Dickens Festival 2026
Charles Dickens' 19th century English town comes to life!
Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December
from 11.00 to 17.00
Entrance €6,-
On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December, over 950 characters from the famous books of this English writer will come to life: from Scrooge to Oliver Twist, from Mr. Pickwick to the Christmas Carol Singers, from orphans to drunkards, from office clerks to posh folk. The historic Bergkwartier will be transformed into a 19th century English city from the time of Charles Dickens. Thousands of small lights, Christmas trees as high as houses and the beautifully restored buildings form the decor.
The Dickens Festival is taking place for the 33rd time. The Christmas town of Deventer welcomes over 100.000 visitors annually during these days. The festival takes place in Walstraat, Golstraat, Damstraat, Bergkerkplein, Roggestraat, Bergstraat, Kerksteeg, Bergschild, and Menstraat.
NoteAccess to the Dickens Festival is only possible via Keizerstraat (near the Schouwburg Theatre). Admission to the Dickens Festival is €6, payable at the ticket office at the beginning of the queue. Children aged 7 and under are free.
Please be aware that waiting times can be up to two hours. Visitors will be guided through the queue to the entrance (near Walstraat).
