This year we’re celebrating the 33rd edition of the Dickens Festijn on 13 and 14 December 2025. During this special weekend in December the centre of Deventer transforms into a magical world where the stories of Charles Dickens come to life.

About the Dickens Festijn

The 19th century English city of Charles Dickens revives in full glory in the centre of Deventer. On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December 2025, more than 950 characters from the famous books of this English writer come to life in the historic Bergkwartier: from Scrooge to Oliver Twist, from Mr. Pickwick to Christmas Carol Singers, from orphans to office clerks and distinguished figures. The Dickens Festivity takes place both days from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is visited by over 125,000 visitors each year. Admission is free. Please keep in mind that there will be a waiting time at the entrance.
